Festival of cakes

tis the season

One of my Christmas presents this year was a little Chocolate & Cranberry Christmas Cake from Spoilt for Choice. They’re a South Auckland based bakery specialising in allergen-free baked goodies. Though they don’t use the v-word at all on their packaging or website, most of their products just happen to be dairy-free, egg-free and suitable for vegans. They’re also gluten and wheat free. Their website has information about other products, stockists and mailorder options.

Even tastier is this Cathedral Cake, which my mum made for me. It’s so called because it’s mostly a matrix of dried fruit and nuts, and when you saw off thin slices, it looks like stained glass windows. There was an egg in the original recipe, but she used egg substitute instead.

I am a lucky vegan.

  1. Hi, I’m enjoying your blog which I happened across a few weeks ago on some kind of vegan google search. Also noticed today that you are the person who saved vegans from mass cellophane panic incited by the rubbish free year blog – thanks 🙂

  2. Thanks! Glad you’re liking the blog. The cellophane thing had me worried for a second, but sounded like it couldn’t be right – thank goodness for the internets & every fact being just a Google search away.

  3. Hooray for awesome understanding mothers and their vegan food! Merry Christmas belatedly from across the Tasman.
