Cake of the week at Poppy Jones

Being situated directly on my walking route to work in the morning, and making reliably good & strong soy flat whites, Poppy Jones in Eden Terrace is a regular stopping place for me.

Each week, a different cake from small local baker Grey Lynn Tarts sits on the counter & is sold by the slice. And just in time for Vegan MoFo, this week’s cake is vegan! It’s Chocolate Cashew Cake – “fudgeee vegan chocolate cake filled and topped with vegan cashew and coconut cream, and finished with vegan chocolate cashew brittle.”

I had a slice with coffee the other day, and it was delicious: moist, chocolatey but not too sweet, with a creamy filling and crunchy bits of chocolate on top. There were still a few slices left this morning – if you drop in tomorrow, you might be in luck.
