Vegan virtual bake sale for Blind Week

Jax Hamilton icing Juffins

Today marks the beginning of Blind Week for the Royal New Zealand Foundation of the Blind. I mentioned a couple of weeks ago that I’d be baking a difference this year for Blind Week.

Rather than baking a giant batch of cookies and inviting you from all over Auckland (and the world!) to descend on my house, I decided I’d run a virtual vegan bake sale. So here’s what’s going to happen:

1. Every day this week, I’ll post about vegan baking: the best places to find rare and delicious ingredients in Auckland, an introduction to ingredients you may have never used like agave nectar, my favourite vegan baking recipes, Revel’s cupcake flavour of the day, how to veganise recipes that use eggs or cow’s milk, maybe an attempt at veganising the poster recipe of Blind Week: jaffa-flavoured Juffins… The possibilities are endless. If there’s anything you want to know about vegan baking, leave it in the comments and I’ll see what I can do.

2. If you appreciate my posts and want to support Blind Week, you can throw some coins in my online bucket, which has secure credit card payment facilities.

3. If you donate, you can vote on which fancy vegan cupcakes I should attempt to bake this weekend. As well as this, if you donate any amount, you’ll get a copy of my favourite foolproof vegan chocolate chip cookie recipe.

So here goes: I’m spreading out the cute vintage tablecloth for my virtual vegan bakesale, and am about to start laying out plates of delicious baking-related blog posts. If you’ll forgive the stretched metaphor, please go ahead and throw a donation in the tin. And leave a comment if there’s anything you’d like to know about vegan baking.
